MedSprint brings students, professionals, and innovators together to create impactful, personalized solutions for community members with specific challenges. Over two days, participants will collaborate, learn, and design innovative ideas to tackle real-world problems faced by individuals in our community.

Dr. Adrian Opala is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at McMaster University. He completed his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at McMaster University, followed by a fellowship in Neuromuscular Medicine and Electrodiagnostics at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago. He practices primarily at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, with additional clinical work at Hamilton Health Sciences. His practice is centered on neuromuscular medicine, with a particular interest in muscle disease, alongside a broad clinical practice in complex nerve injuries and neuropathies.

Dr. Kyle Jackson is a biomedical scientist and commercialization professional focused on advancing early-stage innovations from laboratory discovery to market deployment. He serves as Business Development Officer at the Degroote-Heersink Hub, where he leads commercialization strategy across biotechnology, digital health, and medical device sectors, and as Investment Manager with the McMaster Seed Fund, overseeing its life sciences portfolio. Dr. Jackson has held roles spanning investment banking, venture capital, and strategic consulting with organizations including Bloom Burton & Co., HaloHealth, and Amplitude Ventures’ Pre-AMP studio. His experience encompasses deal origination, venture creation, intellectual property strategy, and diligence across the healthcare sector. He is committed to translating scientific discovery into real-world impact, pairing deep technical expertise with a strategic approach to building the next generation of Canadian life sciences companies.
